Balance

February 17, 2011

Isn’t this what we all do? Try to find and keep balance between all obligations, wishes, dreams, roles we play and things we want to do? Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes not. But it’s always fascinating and keeps us alive.

Balance

Painted with Photoshop CS2 and a Wacom Intuos 3 Pen Tablet. I used the Canvas 01 texture, with many thanks.

Here is what I did:

  • Made the sketch with a hard-edged round brush, size about 5 pixels. Reworked the sketch until it was as I wanted it.
  • Filled the figures, the balls and the background with some basic color, with a hard-edged round brush, size between 10 and a few hundred pixels.
  • Constructed the checkerboard for the background.
  • Painted the figures and the round objects with a dual brush (2 different textures), which is a standard Photoshop brush afaik. Size between 10 and a few hundred pixels.
  • Used the same brush for the background.
  • Made a radial gradient from light to dark on a new layer above the background layer.
  • Used the canvas texture on a new layer above all other layers.
  • Wrote my signature on a new layer on top.

Feel free to ask if you have questions about this.
